A few days ago, my girlfriend sent me an article from The Times about a beer called Madri’. After only a minute of reading, I was completely drawn in. Prior to reading the article, I had no knowledge of Madri’. After researching, I discovered some interesting facts online that I would like to share with you in this article.
So, have you heard of Madri? It’s the latest beer to take the UK by storm. But where did this beverage come from, and how did it become so popular?
I’m thrilled to announce the most successful beer launch in history! Madrí Exceptional, as it is officially called, has reached incredible heights since October 2020, soaring to become one of Britain’s top five beer brands in less than two and a half years. The sales figures have been outstanding, with £430 million in revenue already gained!
Madri came out of nowhere. Some people even say that it’s just a marketing tool. However, it’s brewed in the UK in partnership with a brewery in Spain called La Sagra. Created by Molson Coors, the same brewing company that produces “Carling,” “Blue Moon”, and “Coors Light.”
Despite being brewed in the UK, Madri gives you a sense of familiarity. They didn’t try to differentiate themselves from other beers in the market. This strategy seemed to have worked well, especially after the pandemic. People purchased Madri because they wanted to travel, and this lager reminded them of a holiday.
Madri’s first year of sales was impressive, raking in 109.3 million until June 2022. It has beaten literally all the records that have been set before.

Interestingly, the name Madri comes from Chulapo, a 19th-century society in Spain known for its energy and life. Today it represents the people from Madrid.
